The walk took just over 3 hours, which as usual allowed us plenty of time for photographs, especially at Gordale where we were treated with the sight of the few energetic climbers who braved the strong winds and a thorough soaking when they climbed the Gordale Waterfall.

The Harter Fell walk took approx 6 hours but as usual we spent quite a bit of time admiring the views and taking photographs.  This has been a truly enjoyable day with good views and excellent company.

Read more...Today’s walk was the third OFC Peak District Walk organised by Angela Clarke. The two previous walks had been in very dubious weather and we had watched the weather forecasts with trepidation in case we were going to have to walk in similar conditions again.  However although we didn’t always have far ranging views, we did at least manage to stay dry.
Thank you Angela for an enjoyable walk which took us approx 7 hours.

Read more...As it it had been my birthday earlier in the week, we had arranged to meet up with Les and Kev on the Friday for a long weekend at Caldbeck as a birthday treat.  This is the last of three walks in the Back 'o' Skidda area.

It was an excellent finale for the weekend and the weather was much better than we had had to endure on the Scafell Pike walk last year.

Read more...As it had been my birthday earlier in the week, we had arranged to meet up with Les and Kev for a long weekend at Caldbeck.  This was the second of our three walks and was a mammoth peak bagging exercise.

My walk was a little shorter than everybody else's but I still managed to visit 5 new Wainwrights.  During the walk I manged to find a snipe that stayed on the ground long enough for me to get a photograph of it.

Read more...As it it had been my birthday earlier in the week, we had arranged to meet up with Les and Kev on the Friday for a long weekend at Caldbeck as a birthday treat.  This is the first of three walks in the Back 'o' Skidda area.   We all met up at Rheged and and had a wander through the centre before driving to the parking area near the Carrock Beck ford.

This was an excellent introduction to our weekend's walking and helped us work up an appetite for the excellent meal at the Oddfellows Arms that evening.  The walk took us approximately 3 hours.
