Top Withins Print

Moderate grade
6.50 miles
869' ascent
Read more...This was my last proper walk of 2010.  There had been a lot of snow at the end of November and the beginning of December, however today the roads were clear so I braved the high moorland road from Hebden Bridge to Haworth in order to do some Christmas shopping.  I finished my shopping early and decided to visit Top Withins, high on the moors above Haworth.

Dunham Massey and Lymm Print
Saturday, 13 November 2010
Moderate grade
8.33 miles
167' ascent
Read more...Today I walked from Dunham Massey, through the Park and along the Bridgewater Canal to Lymm. I then returned to Dunham Massey along the Trans Pennine Trail.

Although we often went to Dunham Massey when I was a child, I haven't been here for years. This was a walk packed full of childhood memories and I had plenty of time for photographs.

Sunday, 07 November 2010
Moderate grade
7.44 miles
888' ascent
Read more...This was a walk over very familiar territory, however today I walked with a fairly local walking group - The Saddleworth Pedestrians.  Although I have done this walk a couple of times before, I had always walked in the opposite direction.

Thanks to everyone from the Saddelworth Peds for making me feel so welcome.

Ingleton Waterfalls and Twistleton Scars Print
Saturday, 06 November 2010
Hard grade Hard grade Hard grade
10.80 miles
1243' ascent
Read more...Today I met up with James and Steve at Ingleton and we walked up the Doe Valley towards Twistleton Scars. It was a gentle walk with no fixed distance or goal in mind and there was plenty of time for taking photographs.  Thanks to the recent heavy rains there was plenty of water in the river and the waterfalls were almost too full at times.

This turned out to be a longer walk than I had intended, but the gentle pace meant that I completed it without too much difficulty.  Thanks to James and Steve for their company.

The Grand Union Canal Print
Sunday, 31 October 2010
Moderate grade
8.90 miles
201' ascent
Read more...I went down to Milton Keynes for a long weekend and visited my friends Les and Kev. This was our second walk. We walked along the Grand Union Canal from Wolverton to Stoke Bruerne.  Today's walk gave me the chance to see some of the rural 'Shire' views that are so diffferent to my moorland views at home.

A big thanks to Les and Kev for their hospitality and for showing me around their home area.
