I was supposed to meet up with Steve and James at the Kirkstone Inn car park and climb up to Caudale Moor. However as I drove up from Troutbeck the weather deteriorated and by the time I reached the car park, it was thick mist and rain. We decided that instead of our planned walk we would drive down the Kirkstone Pass, park near Brothers Water and walk up to Angletarn Pikes. This was a wise decision and we had a delightful walk in dry conditions and good visibility. Thanks to Steve and James for their company. |

The forecast for this weekend was good so I decided to explore a couple of tops that caught my eye whenever I returned from the Peak District via Hayfield. Although the section I wanted to visit did not have any paths marked on it, I was sure that by now there would be paths on the ground. So armed with my Dark Peak map, I set off for Mount Famine and South Head, as the weather was so good I decided to extend to walk to Brown Knoll and Kinder. This was an interesting walk with a variety of landscapes and although the wind chill on Kinder felt severe, I really enjoyed the walk. |

Today I met up with Steve for a walk from Satterthwaite through the southern part of Grizedale Forest to the Top O'Selside. The weather was extremely kind and although it was a frosty start, the sun soon came out and warmed us up. We finished off the walk with a quick visit to the delightful cascades of Force Falls. A big thanks to Steve for his company on today's walk. |

Settle is often regarded as one of the gateways to the Yorkshire Dales. Today James and I parked in Settle and used a combination of old lanes and footpaths to visit the Jubilee and Victoria Caves and the stunning Catrigg Force as well as the impressive Stainforth Force. Although the conditions on the higher fells looked bleak at times, we had a delightful low level walk. Thanks to James for his company today. |

This was my first walk in 2011 and I decided that I would drive over the border to Bingley in West Yorkshire. Most of the walk is on the St Ives Estate, the former home of the Ferrands family and passes by the Coppice Pond, Lady Blantyre's rock and the Ferrands Memorial all of which I visited after I had stopped for a snack at the Druids Altar with its spectacular views of the Aire Valley. This was a pleasant walk in an area that I had only driven through before. |
